Other than this, I really like your product - it's lightweight and fast, and has a wonderfully clean and uncluttered GUI. May I inquire as to how you save the contents to the image file? Is it being done by the windows service, or from driver code? If from the service, that seems potentially a bit unsafe, unless the you can ensure it happens as the very last thing, after other services have been stopped.Īlso, if technically feasible, it would be nice having a "save image contents now" button rather than having to umount/remount the image. I am running RAMDisk with Windows Server 2008/2008 RC2 and am. Once the key is verified, you do not need to be connected to the Internet to use the software. You must be connected to the Internet to verify the license key. Now, if I stop the Genie TimeLine windows service, I'm able to unmount the drive - I do still get the first "in use" dialog, probably the TortoiseSVN cache and distributed link tracking service, but the force-dismount succeeds, and after re-loading the image, I can indeed verify that the various modifications have been flushed to the image. Run the RAMDisk Configuration Utility, select the Purchase menu item, then Enter License Key and type in your 16-digit key. If I hit OK, I get "Unable to dismount volume R:" - and the RamDisk GUI still shows the image as mounted, but the drive letter is gone (and, it would seem, contents not flushed to disk). The backup program, however, is likely the thing causing problems! I've Been doing a little bit of investigation - if I try to manually unmount a disk, I get a "Unable to dismount volume R: Perhaps it contains open files or is locked. I've also configured the ramdisk to save contents every 15 minutes, so I don't have to wait for a full (well, differential ) image save on every shutdown.įortunately, I have automatic backups, so I haven't lost anything due to the save issue. I'm having these issues as well, Win7-圆4, and with the TEMP environment variables pointing to R:\TEMP (as well as having things like my FireFox profile on the ramdisk).
